Why I #LuvSoFab

Why RavingsByRae Loves Social Fabric #LuvSoFab

Simply stated, I #LuvSoFab because they love me. And, let’s face it, in the blogging world… not a whole lot of people love the little guy.

My numbers are no secret. Go ahead and click on those little icons on the sidebar and you will see just how little my numbers are. Don’t get me wrong, I am PROUD of my social standing but in comparison to the BIG time bloggers… I am the smallest of insignificant specks.

If you think my numbers are small now, you should’ve seen how small they were when Social Fabric accepted me into their community. Think… single or double digit ‘likes’ and followers. But they didn’t reject me for that, because there is a place for all different types of blogs, no matter how big or small, in the SoFab community. And FYI my numbers have grown like mad since being a part of SoFab. I’m definitely still a little guy, but I’ve gained a few social pounds. 😉

Another reason I #LuvSoFab, because they pay me to do something I love. Yes, I love shopping and yes, I love talking about product but overall I am a writer. I love to write. It doesn’t matter what I am writing about… I enjoy being able to tell a story. And with Social Fabric I can bring in income while doing what I love. Every Shoppertunity is a story. It’s a story I get to plan out, and follow through, and reflect on.

I’ve gotten such positive feedback on my posts and especially on the stories that accompany my posts. It always feels good to get good feedback on my photos and my insightful Google+ thoughts but my real satisfaction comes from knowing that people enjoy the stories that I have written. Social Fabric gives me a reason to write. And I love them for that.

Finally, I  #LuvSoFab because they showed me a new direction for my life. It’s no secret that I am in college. I have changed my major once twice too many times to count. I settled on Communications, by default, to be honest, but I am forever grateful that I was lead this route. I love my classes and I love learning a little about Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Corporate Communications, Social Media, Journalism, etc… I feel like it touches on every subject that I have interest in. But… it’s broad. And since beginning this major I have dreaded graduating because I always felt like I had no direction.

Enter Social Fabric.

I love everything about the company. The social media aspects, the marketing, campaigning, the building of relationships. It’s all so fascinating to me. I have a direction now. When stalking looking through Collective Bias/Social Fabric employee profiles on LinkedIn, I always make note of the job titles. I guess, I just never really knew of anyone in these positions. I didn’t know you could be a social media specialist or strategist. I didn’t know what someone in Community Relations did… I just didn’t know what possibilities there were for someone like me.

So, I honestly have no desire to intern with any companies while I finish my degree. I’m already crazy swamped by life, but when my sister (a fellow SoFab member) brought to my attention an intern position available through Collective Bias in Chicago, I didn’t think twice before applying. Social Fabric is such an amazing community and I’m sure that Collective Bias as a whole is just as amazing… I couldn’t imagine not trying to work with them once I’ve finally completed my education.

Even if I never become a part of the Collective Bias team (as an employee, not a blogger), I am forever grateful that I have been exposed to Social Fabric. They have been an amazing stepping stone in my career as a writer/blogger. I’ve only been with them for a few months but  I’ve never felt so much purpose in respect to RavingsByRae.

And THAT is why I #LUVSOFAB!

Thank you for being at the Savvy Blogging Summit last year! I’m so glad I went and was introduced to the whole Collective Bias & Social Fabric world. 🙂

Great post! I too didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, started blogging, discovered Collective Bias, and found I love marketing and social media more than I ever thought I could. Whether you get the internship or not, I’d love to meet you as I too am in Chicago. I’m on Twitter- @aliciamarie112 🙂 Oh, and I have a set of almost Irish twins (missed it by 21 days) who are in preschool. Interesting times with kids who are so close in age but they will be the best of friends as they grow up!

Thank you 🙂 I’ve always used social media, but using it as an adult with a blog and a ‘brand’ to uphold is completely different than what I used to do with it, and I’m in love with it now. I’d love to meet as well! I’m just discovering that there are actually a nice little handful of bloggers within such a close radius. It’s kind of nuts 🙂

And I cannot wait for my kids to go to school, I know it’s going to be such a fun and interesting time for all of us. And my younger one is actually bigger in size than his sister, so she’ll have a little body guard (that helps daddy sleep at night haha).

Great post!! Before joining Collective Bias as a blogger I have been going to college off and on changing my major too, I decided on business, its what I enjoy and was my original plan many years ago. Now that I am in love with marketing I am making it my core study of my business degree! Loved reading your story of why you love SF!
