Day 10: Judgment

31 Days of Being a Writer

Day Ten

“Depend upon yourself. Make your judgement trustworthy by trusting it. You can develop good judgement as you do the muscles of your body – by judicious, daily exercise. To be known as a man of sound judgement will be much in your favor.” ― Grantland Rice

Some of the best advice I’ve ever received was to trust my judgment. If you live your writing life trying to please everyone or trying to please an editor then your writing will suffer. There’s no doubt.

Flex your own judgment. Use your bad judgments as learning tools. As a writer you must maintain an inner independence. You must trust in your own art. Don’t let your work falter because of other people’s judgments. Be strong. Trust yourself. And believe in your own writing judgment. For this, will make a better writer.
