The summertime is conference season. And conference season means I’m using a ton of my teeny weeny 2GB of data that I have with my current cell phone carrier. Last month, I shared with you how I found an awesome cheap wireless plan that has totally unlimited plans. Well, all of that unlimited data has definitely come in handy this month.
A few weeks ago, I drove to and from Ohio for the Savvy Blogging Summit and that meant I was using my data for 10+ hours just on navigation. As you can probably guess… I surpassed my 2GB data limit in lightening time and was stuck with overage fees. The worst part about it is that the month just started! There was no way I was going to continue to get penalized by my carrier so I started carrying my new Walmart Family Mobile LG Optimus L9 phone around with me everywhere. This phone has totally unlimited data… for like $40 a month. Not just data, either, unlimited minutes and messaging too.
But it’s not just a backup phone. Yesterday, my family and I headed out to a huge picnic type of celebration at a local church. The sun was HOT and it was a long day of sugar and sweating. As the day waned on my little Bubba started getting restless and I knew I needed to keep him calm until the fireworks started or we would just have to leave (I can’t stand public toddler meltdowns). So I took out my Walmart Family Mobile phone, loaded YouTube, and found him an episode of Jack and The NeverLand Pirates to watch. Even though we were surrounded by thousands of people in a big field we had no issue getting the video to load and he was able to sit and watch it.
The phone itself has been super easy to navigate. And I’ve had no problems with my service or managing my account online. I like being able to know that I can still get out and enjoy the weather with my kids without having to worry about limiting my data consumption. In my life, summertime means sunscreen (because I’m paler than Edward Cullen), sunglasses, and cell phones. Those are three things I NEVER leave home without. I usually have some car keys and two little ankle biters, too. 😉
While out at our picnic I was able to upload cute pictures to Instagram (see above) and catch up on some of my YouTube subscriptions. And I didn’t even have to think twice about getting charged for it. I’m stuck in a contract with my current carrier but the money saving potential with the Walmart Family Mobile Plan is insane. I spoke last month about getting iPads for the family and I’m happy to say I’ll be buying the first one later this month. 🙂 There is just no doubt that #FamilyMobileSaves!
I definitely won’t miss any family time this summer worrying about whether I’ll be getting charged fees from uploading cute pictures of the kids and working outside. Walmart Family Mobile has definitely proven itself to be a great addition in my family. 🙂
