Saving on Breakfast With My Babies

Safeway #BreakfastSavings

I always wanted to be Super Mom. I wanted to wake up early, make a huge breakfast, and greet my family with a hot meal and a huge smile. I wanted that. Past tense. Now, I want to make it through breakfast without food on the walls and carpet or a toddler meltdown.

It’s not that I don’t want to be Super Mom. I do. I totally do. But I know that in order to be the best mommy I can be, I need rest. I need simplicity. I need routine, for my sake and my family’s sake. The fact that my kids hate eggs, bacon, and every other hot breakfast food besides pancakes, seriously helps my mommy guilt.

Foods like yogurt, cereal, and fresh fruit are a staple in my family’s breakfast routine. We also go through a ton of Silk Soy Milk, we have some lactose intolerance’s in the house. And lots of coffee and creamer, we have a high strung woman with a sugar addiction in the house, as well.

My daughter, Nahla, is a moody little 2-year-old who changes her mind just as often as mommy. To avoid morning melt downs, I always make sure to have the house stocked with her favorite breakfast items.

When I realized that our breakfast supply was almost depleted this week, I took a trip to Dominick’s to stock up and take advantage of the Buy 4 Save $4 Promotion that is going on. To see more pictures from my #BreakfastSavings shopping trip head over to my Google+ Story.

I was pleasantly surprised that so many of our favorite breakfast items and snacks were all included in the sale. I always have a relaxing and stress free trip when I shop at Dominick’s. And when I realized that I save over $40 on all of our favorite breakfast foods, I was especially pleased. šŸ™‚

I knew that this morning, after wiping butts and noses I would be prepared for breakfast with my babies. They decided on “loopies” which is baby code for cereal. I even gave Nahla (my non-lactose intolerant baby) her cereal with Silk Soy Milk. Soy milk is definitely a treat for her.

After the babies were fed and sipping on their morning juice and milk, mommy got to relax with her favorite breakfast item: sugar filled coffee. I bought the Caramel Macchiato International Delight creamer and some Medium-Light Seattle’s Best Coffee on my shopping trip and was beyond pleased with taste. And it was all on sale!

An easy breakfast routine, with minimal cooking, and simple options is what works best for my family.

What’s your breakfast routine?
