Chicken, Bacon, Avocado Wraps with Tyson Grilled & Ready Chicken

I’ve never claimed to be a chef, a baker maybe, but a chef? Never. Never ever. I can follow a recipe like nobody’s business, but I am not creative when it comes to the kitchen. For that reason, I absolutely love it when brands, like Tyson, offer delicious recipes for their products online.

I’ve been using the Tyson Grilled & Ready products since last summer when I got on a pretty serious health kick. The chicken breast strips are only 100 calories per 3 oz serving and full of protein, which fits into my diet perfectly. They are also really convenient, inexpensive, and tasty. I’ve tried pretty much every ready-to-eat meat on the market and the Tyson Grilled & Ready varieties are the tastiest, hands down.

So the other day, I decided that I wanted to switch it up a little and try a new wrap recipe using my favorite Tyson Grilled & Ready product, the chicken breast strips. I went to the Tyson website and browsed through the tons of recipes that are available and found one that immediately drew me in with the mention of avocado. I freaking love avocados. I usually eat a whole avocado every single day. You should definitely check out the recipe that inspired my wrap or find a recipe for you to try!

The recipe sounded great but I’m not actually a huge fan of pears. So, I stuck with the chicken, avocado, and wrap idea… but added my own flair. While shopping for my wrap ingredients, I decided to pick up some new Grilled & Ready flavors. Tyson offers a wide variety of ready-to-eat meats. I’m a big fan of eating them cold and hot, depending on the dish. To see more from my shopping trip, check out my Google+ story.

The main ingredient to most of my dishes lately has been vegetables. I’m working hard on incorporating more fresh veggies into my diet. Wraps are actually my favorite way of eating fresh veggies. And I can stuff a LOT of veggies into a wrap. It’s kind of an art, the way I shove so much goodness into such a fragile little wrap. 😉

But a girl can’t live on veggies alone! So, along with my heap of veggies I added some real bacon bits, shredded cheese, mayo, and lots of chicken strips. I always debate whether or not my wrap will actually be able to close after piling my ingredients high. It usually does. 🙂

In case you’re wondering, the wrap I use is low-carb and super high fiber! Although it does have over 200 calories… they are definitely not wasted calories. That’s one of my favorite things about wraps. They are generally around 300-400 calories when I make them, but they are super healthy with lots of veggies, fiber, protein, and they’re filling.

Mmm. The finished product was pretty delicious. I may have had some serious onion breath but it was worth it. It’s so filling and easy to make that I know I’ll be repeating this recipe time and time again. And guess how lucky you are!? Because I’m totally sharing my recipe for you guys, below!

Chicken, Bacon, Avocado Wraps with Tyson Grilled & Ready Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 large wrap
  • 1 tbsp. mayo
  • 1/4 cup tomato - diced
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1/4 cup mushrooms - sliced
  • 1/4 onions - diced
  • Half of small avocado - diced or sliced
  • 1 tbsp. bacon bits
  • 3 oz Tyson Grilled & Ready Chicken Strips
  • 1/8 cup shredded cheese

Directions

  1. Cut up all of your veggies. Lay out the wrap. Spread the mayo across the entire wrap. First add the spinach in an even layer, followed by the rest of the veggies. Try to keep everything towards the center, but don't stack too high. Add the chicken and bacon, then top with the shredded cheese. Wrap it up tight by tucking the sides in while you roll. Slice in half, and enjoy!

I love how much goodness you shove in one wrap. I could never make that roll. I’m totally impressed with your wrapping skills and the fact that your wrap is only about 400 calories.
