Day 6: Be Succinct

31 Days of Being a Writer

Day Six

“Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. – William Strunk Jr.

Succinct – suc·cinct / adjective

1. a : marked by compact precise expression without wasted word.

For fear of breaking my rule, I will keep this short. Read the above quote and definition, make sure that you completely understand them, then live by them.

Also, be aware that being succinct is different from being abrupt. Don’t be abrupt. Just don’t.
