Book Review: The Marriage Bargain

This book was a waste of 5 hours. I look to the NY Times Bestsellers List when I’m in search of a good book to read. Usually, I’m not disappointed but this book was a complete upset.  By the time I was 10 pages in I knew how it would end and I knew I didn’t want to waste my time reading the entire book. But alas, my OCD forced me to continue.

If you are looking for a mediocre book with a predictable and tired storyline then The Marriage Bargain is for you.

I usually don’t do the synopsis for you guys but I’ll make an exception because I think my words describe the whole book pretty accurately.

Alexa needs a man with $150,000 to spare so she can save her family’s home. Nick, a BILLIONAIRE, needs a wife for one year so that he can inherit a ton of money. Nick doesn’t want kids or love. Alexa has always loved Nick because they were childhood friends. They move in together after the wedding. And you can guess the rest.

I won’t spoil the ending for anyone thinking of reading it but I can guarantee that once you are a few pages in you could guess the entire plot. There is no connection with the characters and it is all so damn predictable.

Oh, and Nick was a billionaire (like every other man from the books on the bestsellers list right now) but he drove a BMW. His house didn’t sound too spectacular either. If you are going to make someone a billionaire at least have their surroundings make sense.

This book was terrible and boring. The vocabulary was completely underwhelming and I cannot even begin to fathom how it ended up on the bestsellers list.

Truthfully, I feel like I wasted the last 4-5 hours reading the book and I’d rather not spend too much time reviewing it. It was completely disappointing and I’m glad the torment is over.
