Remember the days when shopping for plus size swimwear basically meant we were forced to wear those horrid super full coverage skirt and tank top bathing suits? How about the one piece suits with the extra foot of material to cover our thighs? I remember those days, and I’m glad they’re long gone.
Growing up, I was always forced to wear fugly “old lady” swimsuits, as I came to call them. I was also way more self conscious and aware of how different my body was from all the other girls. I’m still aware of my larger body type, but I’m not nearly as reserved as I once was. My twenties have been treating me well in the self-esteem area.
I’m actually looking forward to bathing suit season. That is kind of a big deal, because I’ve never said those words in my entire life. Eeek.
I’ve been ogling swimsuits for the last few months and thought I would share with you some of my favorite places to buy super trendy plus size swimwear. Obviously, I want us all to look fabulous this season. Alright alright alright… let’s get it.
Monif C.
First of all, can we all just take a second to appreciate Nadia’s yams. Omg. This chick gives me so much life on a regular basis. If you don’t follow her fashion blog, you’re clearly trippin’.
Now, Monif C. is known for having high quality swimsuits. They are some of the priciest I’ve seen, but completely worth it. Nadia is wearing the “Sao Paulo” Plus Size Bikini Fringe Top with Underwire and high waisted plus size bikini bottom – Rude Gal. They are sold separately at $98 and $80, respectively. Even if you’re not planning on buying it, please just visit the webpage to gain a new appreciation for Nadia’s cheeks. Omg.
Forever 21+
Not looking to spend a ton of money on swimwear? Check out Forever 21+ and you’ll find a large variety of quality swimsuits. I tried a bunch on last week and fell in love with them. They are very reasonably priced and are surprisingly high quality, considering they are coming from Forever21. They have some similar styles to Monif C. without the price.
Also, Denise Bidot looks like a damn goddess in every single photo. She also models for Monif C. but I have to contain myself when it comes to posting pictures of her. I could go all day.
Swimsuits For All
Ooooo, kill ’em! GabiFresh is doing the damn thing in her newest design for Swimsuits for All. This gorgeous midkini is called “Nala” so naturally, I’m in love with it. That’s my daughter’s name, incase you’re new here (with a variant spelling – Nahla).
The top of this swimsuit does have underwire, something most plus size ladies need in their swimwear (not me, itty bitties over here hehe). This two piece midkini is totally affordable at $58.50. “Nala” will definitely be finding her gorgeous way into my closet this season. I can’t wait!
ASOS Curve
One of the things I love about the ASOS Curve swimwear selections is that the tops aren’t specifically designed for ladies with big ol’ boobies. I wear a C-cup and regularly have trouble finding swimwear that doesn’t make have my top half swimming. HA! Get it? Swimming…? Okay, let’s move on.
The prices are decent, but not great. You’re going to be paying around $30 for each piece of this type of bikini. Whereas if you went to say, Forever 21+, you could get a great two-piece for about $35. Your call, sweets.
you look amazing
Thanks for the love! I can’t wait to see you in your swimwear. I know you’re going to KILL it!!
