I’ve been majorly into the deep purple lip trend that’s been happening lately. But, with Spring beginning to bloom I thought it was necessary to drop my deep purple lip for a light and lovely lilac.
Initially I was planning on picking up the MAC Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick and Lipglass… but, as luck would have it, MAC was sold out of the lipstick. I wasn’t in the mood for a search around the mall so I got the Lipglass and figured I would wait on the lipstick.
After looking through my makeup collection, I realized that there was no need to get the lipstick because the Oh La Lilac from the Maybelline Color Whispers collection was a perfect match for my new Nicki 2 Lipglass.
I bought my Oh Li Lilac from Walmart for under $7 and the MAC Lipglass will run you about $15. I absolutely love the Color Whispers line, because they aren’t drying and they allow you to build the depth of the color to your preference.
If you don’t want that frosty lavender pink that the Viva Glam Nicki 2 lipstick gives off, then I would highly recommend Oh La Lilac. The Nicki 2 can be intimidating… and it really only works on certain skin tones. I know on me, it kind of washed me out.
I only wanted to get it because I love Nicki’s products and wanted to support. And because every cent from the sale of the Viva Glam products goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
The Oh La Lilac shade is a little less daring than the Nicki 2 lipstick. But, it looks great on fair skin tones (at least, I think it does). Paired with the Nicki 2 Lipglass, I think it creates the perfect purple pout! The lipglass gives off a nice sheen and isn’t overly sticky. I think they compliment each other perfectly.
When worn together, they usually last me a couple of hours before I feel myself reaching to reapply the lipstick or the lipglass. I’m seriously obsessed with this combo right now. I love that it’s a light color without being the typical pink or neutral that everyone seems to be wearing. It’s fun, it’s different, and it’s super pretty.
Plus, it’s the perfect Spring time color.
What’s your favorite Spring lip color?
*I bought these products with my own monies. And as always, these are my 100% honest opinions.
Hey! I never knew about that line of cosmetics. Thanks for sharing. I would definitely purchase them because of the charity overlay. So, are purple nails in too?

I like to think purple nails are always in 🙂 But definitely a light, pastel color would be perfect for the spring time.
Gorgeous! I love pink lipstick , but I’ve got a bit of a rosy complexion and it usually looks odd on me. Is there any shades you would recommend? 🙂 xxx

I have some pretty rosy cheeks, too but I think you can work with pretty much any color. I do a lot of mauve colors when I’m not trying to be too daring. 🙂
