I’m online all the time. More than 50% of the time I’m online using my cell phone, not my Macbook. So it’s no surprise that I went over my data limit yesterday. And I still have another week before my new month of service starts. Yippee! Not. I’m tired of all these overage fees. I need a cheap wireless plan that includes unlimited data.
So I went on the hunt!
Surprisingly, that hunt lead me to Walmart. When I think of Walmart, I don’t think of cell phone provider. I think of buying my groceries, toiletries, and electronics. But they do have a large cell phone selection and Walmart Family Mobile has a lot to offer. See my entire shopping trip in my Google+ album.
With my current provider, I have a family plan which includes four iPhones and one junky little thing. We are paying over $300 a month plus all the added fees from when my boyfriend and I inevitably go over our data limit of only 2GB.
Seriously, a 2GB limit? How can I be expected to limit myself to only 2GB of data in an entire month? Don’t they understand my love for Instagram? And what about Twitter, huh? They expect me to start limiting my tweets? I don’t think so. This is America, I’m free to be as social as I want to be and I’m tired of my provider penalizing me for my desire to share my life online.
I know what you’re thinking… why not just buy more data for your plan, Sarah? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s outrageously expensive! And to top it off, they don’t even offer unlimited data. They offer up to 5GB and that’s about $50 per month, for each person. I love Instagram and all… but not enough to start paying an additional $50 every month. I do have children, and they do like to eat once in awhile. So that extra money just isn’t in the budget. That’s the reason I especially love the Walmart Family Mobile plans, because they include UNLIMITED DATA!
At this point I feel I should mention that I have serious commitment issues. I can never make up my mind about anything and I get major anxiety when I feel like I’m becoming rooted or stuck with a certain decision. Thankfully Walmart Family Mobile is contract free. Free at last, free at last… you know the rest. 😉
No contracts! These days most cell phone companies want to lock you down for at least 2 years, but Walmart is totally commitment free. And in addition to all that unlimited data they give you… you also get unlimited minutes and unlimited messaging. Score!
The Walmart Family Mobile plan is $40 per month for unlimited talk, text, and web. There is no contract and they have some pretty awesome smart phones to choose from. The phone I’m using is the new LG Optimus L9. It has the Android marketplace so I’m able to download all of my favorite apps, easily.
STEP 1: After my phone arrived in the mail, I went to Walmart and picked up the mobile starter kit for $25. Then I headed home and started setting up my new phone. The first step was getting it all unpacked and sliding in my new Family Mobile SIM card.
STEP 2: After that I whipped out my instructions and saw that all I really needed to do was login to the My Family Mobile account management site and follow the steps.
STEP 3: Next find the numbers that are clearly listed in the instruction booklet and make sure you have your driver’s license, as you’ll need it to activate. Then wham, bam, thank you ma’am… you’re done! From start to finish it only took about 5 minutes.
After breaking it all down, if my boyfriend and I both hop on the unlimited plans offered by Walmart we would be saving over $1000 a year with Walmart Family Mobile! Isn’t that insane? And I know exactly what to do with all those extra savings… Daddy, Nahla, and Jaden will each be getting iPad minis. 🙂 I already have an iPad which I will be upgrading soon but they don’t. And the kids are always messing around on mine so the plan is to buy 3 new or refurbished iPad minis so that we can each have our very own. How exciting is that?
I can’t wait to share with you how this plan works for me. I’ll be posting an update around the first week of July, so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, if you’re looking for some serious long-term savings I would highly suggest checking out what Walmart Family Mobile has to offer. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Seriously, #FamilyMobileSaves!
