I’ve been using the Walgreens Mobile AppĀ for a couple of years. I’m surrounded by Walgreens’ and I always seem to be popping in for one reason or another. I’ve tried about 5 different pharmacies over the last few years and I always end up right back at Walgreens. They’re the easiest for me to get to. They are the fastest with refills. And they have the best mobile app, by far!
Now, it’s not that I’m overly sickly or anything but when I was 19 I was diagnosed with having hypothyroidism.
What is Hypothyroidism?Ā
Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) is a condition in which your thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough of certain important hormones.
You may have heard of this condition. Before being diagnosed with it, all I knew was that a lot of overweight people had the condition. It does effect the thyroid, obviously. And the thyroid effects your metabolism, which effects your weight. However, that’s not why it’s so important to me. I care about my weight and all that but hypothyroidism can cause a lot of serious issues if you don’t take your pill every single day.Ā
One of the sides effects of not taking your medication daily, is impaired memory. Now here’s the problem that I encounter on a regular basis. I have a terrible memory. I forget to take my pill every morning. When I forget to take my pill, I have a bad memory. When I have a bad memory… I forget to take the pill. And you can see where my issue lies.
This is where the Walgreens Mobile AppĀ comes into play.
Not only does the app have a super easy to use Refill by Scan feature, it also has a pill reminder! This pill reminder is a life-saver, seriously. Hypothyroidism can be a really serious condition that can adversely effect your cardiovascular system. You know, your heart. That’s kind of important.
In the past, I was a little flippant about taking my medication because I figured, “Whatever, I’m going to be taking it for the rest of my life. Who cares if I miss a day here and there?” But then I started to feel more and more of the side effects and it took a toll on my body. When I stop taking my medication for a day or two I already feel the side effects.
I can happily say that by using the Walgreens Mobile App, I’ve been way more active on taking my medication daily. It’s super easy to input your meds and set dates, times, and frequency of alerts in the app. It even keeps track of how many pills you have left before you need a refill. This is SUPER handy, considering I used to go weeks in between refills… until I set up an automatic refill.
Now, every morning at 8:30 I get a reminder telling me to go take my medication. I’ve only taken my meds once before the alert went off. That just goes to show you how useful the reminder has been. It’s also really useful when remembering to give my kids their cold medicine, and making sure I don’t over medicate.
The #WalgreensApp is a life-saver.

I just got placed on a daily medication too and am trying my hardest to remember to take it. This reminder would be so helpful – that extra little voice saying go take it, you’ll feel better in the long run! #client
