I’ve been on a reading spree. Luckily, most of these new fiction books in my iBooks library have been freaking amazing. Connected by Kim Karr was definitely different and had me on the edge of my seat. The cliff hanger was a freaking doozie… but I’m getting ahead of myself.
Here’s the synopsis…
What if a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ could happen twice?
Suffering from a past full of tragedy, Dahlia London’s soul has been left completely shattered. Happily ever after is a far cry from reality in her world. But, when she is reconnected with her past, the bonds that form are irrefutable.
When River Wilde, lead singer of The Wilde Ones, comes back into Dahlia’s life, the intensity that fires their relationship combined with underlying feelings that have never died lead her to believe she has met her soulmate.
Struggling with confusion as old connections fade and new ones begin, Dahlia’s grief begins to lift–but guilt remains. River wants to be the one to mend all that is torn within her.
But with a past that is never really gone, can their future survive?
I thought I had this book all figured out. But then I didn’t have crap figured out and I wasn’t sure what the hell was happening.
Dahlia London has been through some things, to say the least. That girl cannot catch a break. I felt for her, but at the same time… she kind of annoyed me.
I didn’t like the way she continuously compared River to Ben. I don’t want to delve too deep into Ben and what goes on with him… but suffice it to say that she shouldn’t have been constantly comparing her super new and fresh budding relationship with River to her longtime relationship with Ben. I mean, of course they are going to be different. They are two WAY different types of men. River Wilde is a budding rock star. Ben is… well I’ll let you find out about Ben by reading this book.
I actually found myself really caring for Ben and I’m not sure if that was the authors intent. Even after the tragedy happened… I felt like I wasn’t done with Ben and Dahlia. After finishing this book it made me think of the mind fuck that Consequences (review coming soon) gave me. And if you enjoyed Consequences, I would definitely recommend Connected. It’s not the same insane storyline but it definitely offers a rather creative story.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the D-Bags reference. You know I love me some Kellan Kyle. I loved how the author weaved the Thoughtless world into this one. It’s always fun to see novels coexist in the same make believe world. 🙂
I love how River isn’t exactly famous… yet. I hope that in the next novel he doesn’t become some huge mega star the way Kellan did. I’m not a huge fan of the rockstar novels. And I just love River too much to see him get all caught up in that world. I need him to be available and there for Dahlia the way she needs him to be.
I definitely think this book is worth reading. It’s better than a lot of the other crap coming out this year. I will warn you that the cliffhanger is agonizing! Oh and be prepared to suffer through some heartbreaks with our girl Dahlia. Don’t worry though… I have a feeling Torn (Connections #2) will mend our aching hearts. 🙂
