Reckless (Thoughtless #3)

I want to scratch my eyes out, get my $13 back, and regain those hours I spent reading this damned book. How could Thoughtless and Effortless be so good and Reckless be such drivel? How?! Some people think it has to do with the publisher. Were Thoughtless and Effortless published independently? That would make sense as to why this one seemed so different from the first two.
I won’t bore you with the synopsis. If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you already read books 1 & 2. You want to know what happens in this one? Nothing. Except for the epilogue where a billion things happen. Gahhh. I can’t write this review without angrily smacking at my keyboard.
How was it SO bad? HOW!? I don’t want to give out any spoilers so I’m going to be as vague yet descriptive as possible
This book was so slow. I know people thought that Thoughtless was slow, but at least Thoughtless had a great storyline and eventually was intensely engaging. Reckless started slow. Continued slow. And ended glacially slow.
She should’ve named this book Pointless not Reckless. There was NOTHING reckless about it. And the characters were night and day from previous books.
I mean Kellan totally lost his balls somewhere and Kiera was suddenly SO understanding and making all of these adult decisions. Please. She was still totally self involved but she didn’t seem to match with the Kiera that I grew to know from Thoughtless and Effortless.
Every time I thought something interesting was going to happen between them… nope. Kiera was so understanding and Kellan was a huge wussy and cried or confessed his undying love for the umpteenth time. Look, I like my books to end with a nice neat bow just as much as the next girl, but I don’t need every. single. conflict. to end that way. C’mon! I’m not reading a fairytale!
Their relationship was too perfect. Even though there was meant to be this huge drama with Sienna Sexton and the whole Kell-Sex thing. Kellan was a huge punk about it and was just completely torn apart that he couldn’t announce to the world that he and Kiera were married.
Speaking of… that marriage… that annoyed me to no end. I just didn’t get it. They weren’t married. Yet they steadfastly acted like they were. I mean, if you want to be married, get married. Der.
I trudged through this book. I skimmed much of the ending because I knew that nothing amazing was going to happen. I had so much hope. But after the first hundred pages, the second hundred pages, and the rest, I knew that this book was going nowhere.
The only scene that was really worth a damn was the one with the filming of the music video and the immediate aftermath. That was the only real angst or emotional part of the entire book.
And the one MAJOR positive of this book was the whole Griffin/Anna relationship. Griffin grew so much as a man and his growth was believable and awesome to witness. I loved their relationship throughout this book. I would have preferred to read about their new lives together rather than the stale and predictable lives of Kiera and Kellan.
There’s so much more to say, but I really don’t want to ruin it for you guys that still want to read it. If you’ve never read any of the novels, I suggest your read the first two and create the happily ever after epilogue on your own. Don’t waste your time reading Reckless.
