The constant activity that comes with being a mother of two toddlers, a student, a girlfriend, and simply a woman, always leaves me feeling drained. The daily noise level, alone, gives me a headache.
As an introvert, I need quiet time at some point during every day. I wouldn’t make it through the raucous of my daily life if I didn’t have that recharge time at the end of the night, to look forward to. I do different things in my “me time”. Sometimes I watch T.V., sometimes I clean (which is actually sort of relaxing), but my favorite thing to do is give myself some at-home pampering.
This winter has been hell on my skin. I’m constantly in the kitchen with my hands in hot water, or washing my hands after changing diapers or taking Nahla ‘pee pee’. By the end of the day my knuckles are bleeding and scaly.
I’ve been searching for a good thick lotion that would last all day on my hands. Something that wouldn’t wipe away or wash away as soon as my hands touched water. Luckily, while on a quick trip to Sam’s Club with my little Nahla Rae I found exactly what I was looking for and it was in bulk! For less than $10 I was able to get two HUGE bottles of NIVEA Essentially Enriched lotion meant for ‘very dry, rough skin’. Perfect.
To see the other fun I got into during my shopping trip, check out my Google+ album with a full breakdown. 🙂
Once I had the lotion, I wanted nothing more than to give my hands some much needed TLC. So, I set up some fun pampering me time. I have a cute little organizer that I like to keep my mani/pedi things in so that it’s easily transportable and organized when I need it.
And of course it wouldn’t be pampering time without some popcorn, strawberry piná colada, and a new book to read via my iPad. 🙂 I enjoyed my few hours of quiet time and the morning after my lotion rub-down my knuckles already started to feel so much better. I’ve been using the lotion daily and I have found relief, finally.
I really enjoyed my “Me Time” and I will definitely have to find more time for #NIVEAMoments in the future because after all that pampering… this introvert felt fully recharged and ready for another day of motherhood.

Me time? What is that? 🙂 Just kidding. I’m actually reading more in my ‘me time.’ Reading recharges me (somewhat) and can even change my mood for the better.
I love reading my Bible, and I’m also reading a book on motherhood called, Desperate, that is fantastic! Oh, and coffee is another good thing to have during my me time. 😉

I’ve been looking for some stress management books. I know that in the long run it can actually be pretty bad for your health so I’m trying to nip it in the bud.
Hi Sarah,
Stress is bad for your health. I know from experience. I can take on too many things and get all stressed out and actually start to feel the effects of stress physically. Not good.
Unfortunately, I can’t recommend any books. 🙁 But when I start to feel stressed, I try take a look around and evaluate where I can cut out some unnecessary things. I usually find that there are several “good” things that I can cut out of my life that while being good, I can’t handle at that moment.
