Where did the summer go? Some days went by fast, while others seemed to go on glacially. In May I was signed up to complete a summer course but for a number of reasons I decided not to attend university this summer. Over dinner tonight I wondered whether my decision was a waste of time or not.
I knew that if I wasn’t going to be in school this summer I would need to capitalize on my free time (well, as much free time as you can have with two toddler’s toddling and pooping the days away.) So I sat at the table tonight watching my daughter coat herself in spaghetti noodles and Jell-O wondering if I should’ve just taken some credits this summer to get myself closer to my degree.
So… what did I do all summer? I read. As simple and unproductive as that may sound, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Reading is my escape. I often punish myself by not allowing myself to read a new book. During the school semesters I often chastise myself saying “No, Sarah! Put down your iPad and do your homework! If you have time to read a few chapters then you have time to finish that PR Project.” However, this summer there were no projects, papers, or assignments of any kind. I was free to read as I wished. So I did… I doubt I can remember everything I read but I’ll give it a shot.
(#1 in Fifty Shades Series)
(#2 in Fifty Shades Series)
(#3 in Fifty Shades Series)
Bared to You (#1 in Crossfire Series)
[#2 is being released later this year, yay!!]
(#1 in Gabriel’s Series)
(even though I couldn’t finish this book, it started good)
(#1 in Thoughtless Series)
(#2 in Thoughtless Series) [#3 coming this December WOOT WOOT]
I’m also currently reading these three books…
Reading a good book is so fulfilling to me. I learned a plethora of new words and I feel like I became a better writer by being able to finally sit down and read a little. I know my leisure reading time is coming to an end soon but I can’t wait to pick up a few new books for winter break.
Reading was my escape this summer. I needed that escape, desperately. I fell in love with some amazing new books like Thoughtless and Gabriel’s Inferno. I laughed, I cried, and I loved every damn minute of it.
“I’ve never known any trouble that an hour’s reading didn’t assuage.” Charles De Secondat (1689 – 1755)
