After lots of debating, a ton of research, and some encouragement from the family I have decided that The Sugar Bar will be making its big debut at Prairie Fest in Oswego, IL June 14-17!
I’m actually crazy excited about everything. I’ve never done anything like this but I’ve been crunching the numbers and working double-time with recipe testing and researching things I’ll need. I realize that pretty little pastries aren’t the most popular fair/festival eats BUT I’m truly using this as a showcase. We (I say we because I am going to have some serious reinforcement in the form of family and friends) will be selling some specialty summer flavors which will go hand in hand with our side business… selling lemonade and pink lemonade! My family’s gotta eat ya know… we need to sell something to make sure we make our money back on our investment. So, we will be selling lemonade and pink lemonade along with my pink lemonade cupcakes/cakepops and lemon cupcakes/cakepops. I’m planning on having a cupcake with lemonade sale type of thing. And even though the rest of the lemonade selling at the fest are going to hate me… I’m will be underpricing my drinks to attract more people. I’m not a lemonade tycoon… I’m a baker who knows how to draw the crowd. Sorry fellow lemon squeezers 🙂
I’ll also have an assortment of cookies, specialty brownies, cheesecakes, and my new favorite thing-the deep dish stuffed cookie. 🙂
There is still a ton of planning to do and different things I need to sort out in these next 2-3 months but I can’t contain my excitement. I should also have a logo within the next week or so which means I can finally get my business cards made. This is huge, because it’s a little hard to advertise without business cards and a website. All this new fangled technology…
